A six-page chapter newsletter comes out five times a
year. It is packed with genealogical tips, folklore, old letters
and photos, book reviews, reports on chapter doings, and much more.
In the past two years, the newsletter has printed material on Volga
German wedding traditions, Lily Pfannenstiel's life in Russia, the
"Treasurers of the Czars" exhibit in Topeka, letters sent by Germans in
Russia to their relatives in Kansas in the 1930's, Bishop Werth's July
2001 visit to Kansas, and much more. Books reviewed in the
newsletter have included Barefoot in the Rubble by Elizabeth B.
Walter, The White Lamb by Mela Meisner Lindsey, and Alla
Lizzie by Helen Eichstaedt. All in all, the newsletter keeps
members informed on numerous aspects of our German Russian history and
heritage.
