(Remmler), Russia was founded on June 20, 1767 with a population of 44
families, 90 males and 98 females consisting of 188 souls. Please click on the

1798 Census Information
The colony is located along the Volga River, on the Wiesenseite.
The distance from the colony to Saratov City is 77 versta, to Volsk - 23 (during
the winter) and 30 (during the summer),to Zug. One side of the colony
borders the Volga River. Another side borders land surveyed to Zug.
All the colonists are Roman Catholic. In 1798 there were 133 males and 142
females inhabiting the colony with a total of 275 souls and consisting of 44
families. The colony belongs to the Schoenchen parish where there is a
church. In Luzern, the colonists have a prayer house where they gather
together each Sunday and pray and sing under the direction of the schoolmaster
who was elected among them.
