 Graf (Krutoyarovka), a German Catholic colony, was established on the "Wiesenseite"  or "meadow side" of the Volga River on the 10th of June 1766. The colony was founded by LeRoy and Picet.

The parish was established in 1883 with the construction of the church in 1886. The parish had a total of 2105 souls in  1909 and in 1919 had grown to 2153 souls.  The church was made out of wood.
