The 2007 AHSGR Convention was held in Hays, Kansas, and the melting pot of the six original German Russian villages of Liebenthal, Catharine, Herzog (Victoria), Munjor, Pfeifer, and Schoenchen that were founded from February 1876 to May of 1877. The week was filled with speakers from South America, Germany, Russia and the United States. The SOAR computer room was a goldmine to those people seeking information from not only obituaries, but, AHSGR Journals, Clues, Cemetery Records, Ships Lists, Surname Charts, the Stumpp Book, Bohlender Book and Bessarabian Birth, Death and Marriage Records. Entertainment ranged from a reenactment of the Germans from Russia arriving in Ellis Country to Polka Bands, German Singing, Choirs, Buffalo Bill Cody, plenty of food, storytelling and just a lot of fun. Many long time friends were reaquinted while new relationships were made. Don’t miss next year’s joint convention in Casper, Wyoming.
